April Course Report

Introduction As we move into April, the course is beginning to show signs of spring growth, and we are preparing for the start of the main golfing season. The longer days and rising temperatures will help with recovery and improvements across all playing surfaces.

Weather and Course Conditions March presented a mix of conditions, with periods of heavy rain and occasional frosts, but as we head into April, we expect more consistent growth. While some areas remain soft, the course is steadily firming up, and we anticipate better playing conditions as the month progresses.

Greens Our greens maintenance programme continues with aeration and light top-dressing to improve drainage and promote smooth putting surfaces. We will also be applying a spring fertiliser to enhance growth and density. As temperatures rise, greens speeds will increase, and consistency will improve.

Fairways and Tees With the growing season underway, we will begin more frequent mowing to maintain good playing conditions. Divot repairs will be an ongoing focus, and we encourage golfers to help by replacing divots where possible. A programme of selective fertilisation and overseeding will also take place to strengthen the turf.

Bunkers April will see continued bunker maintenance, with additional sand being added where required and compacted areas being addressed. We will also be working on drainage improvements in a few key bunkers to enhance playability.

April Work Plan Key tasks for the month ahead include:

  • Increasing mowing schedules to keep up with spring growth.
  • Fertilising and overseeding tees and fairways to encourage strong, healthy turf.
  • Continuing aeration and top-dressing on greens for smooth and firm surfaces.
  • Improving bunker consistency and drainage where needed.
  • Preparing the course for upcoming competitions and events.

Final Notes April marks the true beginning of the golfing season, and we are excited to welcome members and visitors onto a course that will only continue to improve. We appreciate your support and patience as we carry out essential maintenance, and we look forward to seeing you all enjoying the course in the weeks ahead.
