March Course Report

Introduction March is a month of transition on the course as we move from winter into early spring. While conditions have remained challenging at times due to fluctuating weather patterns, we are beginning to see signs of improvement, with longer daylight hours and increasing temperatures aiding recovery.

Weather and Course Conditions The course has experienced a mix of weather, including spells of heavy rainfall and occasional frosty mornings. This has resulted in some soft areas, particularly in low-lying sections, but overall, drainage has performed well. We have also enjoyed some drier and sunnier days, which have helped firm up playing surfaces and improve overall playability.

Greens The greens team has been working hard to prepare the putting surfaces for the season ahead. Regular aeration and light top-dressing have been carried out to improve drainage and promote healthy root growth. As temperatures rise, we expect the greens to continue improving, with speed and consistency increasing over the coming weeks.

Fairways and Tees Grass growth has remained slow due to cooler temperatures, but fairways and tees have been maintained at a playable standard. We have begun early-season fertiliser applications to encourage growth, and divot repairs have been ongoing to ensure surfaces remain in good condition.

Bunkers Bunker maintenance has continued, with additional sand added where necessary and edges trimmed to maintain definition. A few areas have suffered from washouts due to heavy rain, and these will be addressed as part of our regular maintenance program.

Upcoming Work

  • Increasing mowing frequencies as growth accelerates.
  • Continuing aeration and top-dressing to enhance playing conditions.
  • Monitoring and managing disease prevention as temperatures rise.
  • Preparing for the start of the competitive playing season.

Final Notes We appreciate members’ patience as we navigate these early-season conditions. The team is committed to presenting the best possible playing surfaces, and we are confident that with improved weather, the course will continue to progress.

We look forward to welcoming everyone out on the course and wish all players an enjoyable start to the golfing season.
