May Course Report

May has arrived and with it, a welcome burst of growth and activity across the course. The warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours are allowing the team to step up maintenance efforts, and we’re seeing significant improvements in playing conditions.

Weather and Course Conditions April brought a mixed bag of conditions, with some wet spells followed by drier, sunnier days. This variation has helped stimulate growth across all areas of the course. The ground is now drying out well, and surfaces are becoming more consistent and playable.

Greens The greens have responded well to ongoing aeration, top-dressing, and spring nutrition applications. We’ve seen improved growth, colour, and firmness, and the surfaces are now rolling well with increased consistency. Regular mowing and light rolling will continue through May to further refine putting quality.

Fairways and Tees Growth on fairways and tees has accelerated, and we have increased mowing frequencies accordingly. Tees have been fertilised and overseeded where necessary, and divot repairs are ongoing. We are pleased with how these areas are recovering and expect further improvements as temperatures continue to rise.

Bunkers Bunker presentation remains a priority. Sand levels have been topped up in selected bunkers, and drainage improvements have been made in a few persistent problem areas. We’ll continue checking and raking them regularly to ensure they remain consistent and fair to play from.

May Work Plan Key areas of focus this month include:

  • Regular mowing of all playing surfaces to maintain quality.
  • Continued feeding of greens, tees, and fairways to support healthy growth.
  • Spot treatment of any emerging weed issues.
  • Final preparations for upcoming club competitions.

Final Notes We’re very pleased with the progress made on the course over the past few weeks. The team is working hard to ensure all areas are presented to the highest standard, and with a full golfing calendar ahead, we’re looking forward to an enjoyable and successful month on the course.

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy your golf throughout May.
