September Course Report

As we move into autumn, the course is beginning to show the first real signs of seasonal change. The mornings have become noticeably cooler, and the dew is hanging around a little longer each day — a clear indication that summer is drawing to a close.

Course Conditions
September has been a mixed month for weather, with warm spells early on followed by cooler, wetter periods. This variation has helped recovery in some areas that suffered through the drier parts of the summer, but it’s also brought increased growth, meaning our mowing schedule has remained full-on. Fairways and approaches have held their colour well, and recent feeding has helped keep the greens in good condition going into autumn.

Greens
The greens have responded well to our late-summer maintenance programme. A light aeration and topdressing were carried out early in the month to relieve compaction and improve drainage ahead of the wetter months. This work, along with regular brushing and rolling, has helped maintain smooth, consistent surfaces. We’ll continue light aeration through the coming weeks to keep them healthy.

Fairways and Tees
Fairways have been cut regularly and are looking strong after recent rainfall. We’ve also begun overseeding in some thinner areas to promote recovery before winter. Tees are being divoted daily, and we’ll carry out a light renovation on the par 3s shortly, as these naturally receive the most wear.

Bunkers
Our bunker edging and sand-levelling programme continues, and we’ll be refreshing sand levels where required. Please remember to rake bunkers after use and leave rakes inside the traps to help us keep them tidy for everyone.

Autumn Maintenance
October will see the start of our autumn aeration work across fairways and roughs. This essential maintenance ensures the turf stays healthy and can withstand the wetter conditions ahead. We appreciate your patience while this work takes place — it pays dividends for course quality in the long term.

In Summary
Overall, the course is in great shape heading into the cooler months. Thank you to all members and visitors for your continued support and cooperation, particularly during maintenance periods. We hope you continue to enjoy your golf as the autumn colours begin to set in.
